SO, the other day, my husband and I went out on a pre-dinner stroll to the farmers’ market. The afternoon was turning into evening, the sun was hot, and as we picked our way through the different stalls, we came upon something we hadn’t tried before– red currants. They were pretty little red berries, and we foolishly waited until we got home to try them.
We liked them so much, my husband went back to buy some more! They’re tart, and full of a lightly acidic flavor, and I instantly thought: “wouldn’t these go perfectly in lemonade?”
For lovely Red Currant Lemonade:
1/8 cup sugar
1/8 cup lemon juice
1/8 cup lightly crushed currants
2 cups water
Makes one tall glass of lemonade. If you want more than that, just upscale the proportions.
